A Leap of Faith: Embracing the Unknown
For many of us, our immediate future is unclear. It’s the same for me right now. I have no idea what my immediate future holds. However, I do feel a desire to move forward. I want to travel and embrace the unknown. Stagnation simply isn’t an option for me. Sometimes, to give myself a clue, I draw a card from the “Whispers of Nature” oracle cards. This time, I drew a card for myself:
Leap of faith
See this as an opportunity to create something beautiful. You are in a transitional period where you must trust in yourself, your intuition, and your knowledge, and take the leap. You will not fail — you have a safety net and support system around you. You will overcome your fear and discover that there is a beautiful ending on the horizon. This leap of faith is the best thing you can do right now. If you make a mistake, you can try again and learn from what didn’t work the first time. All signs indicate that when you have trust, you will succeed. Approach the unknown with your head held high. Even if you eventually fall, in this moment, you will soar!
Yes, the card perfectly aligns with what I’m feeling now. I want to embrace the unknown. The last thing I want is to linger in “more of the same.” I feel the call to adventure to leave the Netherlands again. My first instinct is to travel in the United Kingdom. But from there, my path is not set. Of course, it’s beautiful to let my imagination speak and have many ideas. But I feel that I don’t want to set my path in stone. No, I want to move purely from intuition and feeling.
You could also call it a ‘walkabout’ somewhere. A walkabout is a traditional journey where Aboriginals – individually or in groups – travel hundreds of kilometers in the wilderness. You could consider this journey as a rite of passage. During my walkabout, I am searching for myself. I want to encounter the new version of myself along the way… I feel somewhere that my potential is calling me. A version of myself that lives 100% from freedom and alignment with the soul. A version of myself that is free from fear and can step out of its comfort zone without effort. I’m not quite there yet emotionally. Sometimes I come close, but I still feel that I’m not quite that version.
The idea is to really dare to step into the unknown. Not to plan my journey from my head in advance, but to let myself be guided by the impulses of my heart. Somewhere deep inside, I know that if I live from my essence (my loving core) and if I move from this energy, then the next stone to walk on appears out of nowhere. The path appears, stone by stone… as I move from trust and joy. This path of trust and joy unfolds magically before my eyes. When I move in this way from trust, I constantly receive a new clue that fills me with enthusiasm. Enthusiasm and joy are the language of the soul. That soul communicates with us and gives us a trail to follow. Like a breadcrumb trail that has already been created for us. Our soul is not bound by the limitations of time and space. It can see which path is best for us to take to reach our desired destination.
When I first set out in 2018, I ended up in a community in France. Here, a like-minded soul gave me a new tip to travel to Schweibenalp in Switzerland. I lived in that paradise for about a year and a half. I couldn’t have thought of that golden tip beforehand. It comes to you on your journey.
After drawing the card and feeling that inner call to adventure, I felt a surge of excitement coursing through me. The idea of leaving the familiar behind and facing the unknown filled me with a mix of fear and excitement. I know that soon it will be time to take the leap of faith and start my journey.
With a determined heart, I now decide to gather my things over the next few weeks and prepare for this journey. What will I take with me this time? Somewhere, I feel the desire to hike the south-west coast path. So, I’ll definitely bring good hiking shoes. A sturdy backpack and a wooden pilgrim’s staff. It’s possible that I’ll also want to bring a tent. Then I’ll go camping in nature.
Of course, I could also choose to book a ‘bed and breakfast’ each time during my long-distance walk and have my luggage transported. For me, my journey doesn’t have to be a trial or mean that I can’t experience luxury. Stepping out of my comfort zone can also mean that I dare to spend more money. Or it can be a combination. Occasionally sleeping in a tent and occasionally allowing myself the luxury of a room.
As I gather my belongings and further plan my journey, I also begin to think about the spiritual dimension of my journey. I realize that this journey will not only be a physical exploration but also an inner journey of discovery. Time to find some inspiration!
Today, I watched an inspiring documentary on YouTube about a woman known as Peace Pilgrim. The story is about an American woman who embarked on a 28-year-long journey through the United States and Canada to help humanity find inner peace.
She began her walk at the age of 53, with her hair already turned gray. What I find so beautiful about her story is that she didn’t just undergo an incredible physical journey, but also a spiritual one. Her dedication to spreading peace and finding inner tranquility has touched and inspired countless lives. As I listen to her story, I feel a deep resonance with her message of simplicity, love, and compassion. When she speaks, you can clearly sense that something is speaking through her. She is attuned to Spirit. This energy gave her the strength to take the leap of faith and begin her 25,000-mile journey.
Peace Pilgrim’s journey reminds me that the real meaning of a pilgrimage lies not only in the physical aspect of travel but mainly in the inner transformation that occurs during the journey. Her example inspires me not only to open my body but also my mind to the lessons and insights I will encounter on my own path.
As I prepare for my own journey, I am guided by her example of courage, determination, and selflessness. I realize that my journey is not just about me, but also about sharing love and joy with others I meet along the way. With Peace Pilgrim as my inspiration, I am determined to follow my own path of peace and inner growth, knowing that every step I take contributes to a better world.
With these thoughts in mind, I feel strengthened and full of confidence to embark on my journey. I am ready to explore the world, not only with my feet but also with my heart and soul. My adventure awaits me, and I am determined to embrace every moment with openness and gratitude.
