Awakening Unity: The Namaste Walk Experience
Every evening, around 21:30, I go to bed to sleep. It usually takes no longer than half an hour to fall asleep. Almost every night, I have a dream. I generate this dream world within my consciousness, creating a dream landscape with people and animals. Additionally, I have a kind of dream body. I then experience various adventures in my dream until I wake up in the morning.
Many people think that when we wake up from our dream, we enter the ‘real world.’ This physical world feels very solid, much less subtle than a dream world. Nevertheless, this entire physical world is also a creation within our consciousness. We create a landscape, people, animals, and a body for ourselves, just like in our dream. Everything we call the physical world can be compared to a dream world. But the physical world is neither more nor less real than that dream world.
What I’m pointing out is that we are essentially walking in a creation/projection of our consciousness. Everything we call objects is a creation of the subject and, in essence, the subject itself. In other words, we walk in the ‘Self.’ We walk in the ‘I am.’ We walk in God.
It took me a while to fully accept this perspective. But now, I see everyone and everything I encounter not as an ‘other.’ Everyone I meet is me. Everything that appears to me is me. The more I realize this, the more my true awakening begins. Of course, it’s easy to forget this sense of unity. This physical world feels so real, and I forget it again and partially fall asleep.
To remind myself of the unity of life, I’ve devised an exercise. I call it the Namaste Walk. Every day, I take a walk of about half an hour. I greet every being I encounter during my walk in my heart with the greeting “Namaste.” The word Namaste literally means “I bow to the divine in you” and serves as a gesture of appreciation and a sign of respect to the person being greeted.
Embarking on a Namaste Walk is like stepping into a realm where time slows down, and a gentle breeze of tranquility envelops every step. The journey becomes the destination, and each stride is a deliberate dance with the present moment. Amidst the serenity, my senses awaken to the symphony of nature—the rustling leaves, the melodious birdsong, and the earthy fragrance of the path beneath my feet. In these moments, I don’t just walk; I commune with the essence of life.
During these walks, I’ve discovered that the connection I feel is more profound than a mere encounter—it’s a reunion with long-lost family. The trees become wise elders sharing their stories through swaying branches, the flowers delicate messengers of beauty, and the birds joyful companions on my journey.
Every being, from the majestic oak to the smallest daisy, is a cherished relative. I honor the divine in the intricate tapestry of existence, acknowledging the sacred thread that weaves through blades of grass, leaves, and the beating hearts of all living things. This profound communion with nature transcends the boundaries of individuality, revealing a universal kinship that echoes in the elements, the earth, the sun, the moon, and the stars.
Through the Namaste Walk, I’ve come to realize that in honoring the world around me, I am, in essence, honoring the divine within and fostering a connection that transforms every stroll into a sacred journey.
The journey here on earth is the journey to remember: We are all One. Let’s never forget that, and all problems will resolve themselves. After all, who has the need to attack, pollute, and oppress themselves? Once we see and live the unity of existence, we no longer waste our time on what is unimportant. We use our time to express love and joy. The moment we all do this, we create heaven on earth. And let’s be honest… that’s much more enjoyable than all the nonsense we create now.
Namaste, dear ones! 🙏🏼
